Chair

Description

Do-Maru evokes lightweight Samurai armour made from leather and lacquer, which wraps around and protects the body. The chair is composed of two overlapping moulded shells that form an embracing seat, made comfortable by two inner moulded pads upholstered in fabric or leather. These small lounge chairs extend the design language first established with the Almora lounge chair, also designed by Doshi Levien for B&B Italia.

The rear legs are die-cast aluminium elements shaped to mirror the conical gesture of the seat shell. The front legs are swaged tubular metal in black chrome and pewter, with complementary shell finishes offered in white, black and dove.

POISE AND LIGHTNESS

Doshi Levien draws on the conical form language established by the Almora chair for B&B Italia, using opposing triangular geometries to energise the design and create a sense of lightness.
