Sofa

Description

My Beautiful Backside is a seating collection launched by Moroso at Milan’s Salone del Mobile in 2008. The project was inspired by a miniature painting of an Indian princess seated on the floor with her lover, surrounded by an array of cushions. This scene became the starting point for a sofa composed of floating cushions in celebratory colours and shapes, each finished with double piping.

Oversized badges used as buttons appear on the backs of the cushions, communicating messages and bejewelling the seating in the way one might embellish an item of clothing. The collection is upholstered in felt and wool reminiscent of couture English suits, with silver and gold foiling applied to the wool to introduce an opulent Indian character.

Doshi Levien saw every detail and surface as an opportunity to bring sensual materials together: solid wood meets polished brass, black lacquer and felted wool.
